About the role
Daifuku Automotive America Corporation is a leader in the design, manufacturing, installation, and support of automotive automation and material handling systems in North America. The Buyer is responsible for purchasing and negotiating materials, equipment, and supplies from vendors while acting as the liaison between corporate, estimating, engineering, jobsites, remote offices, services/spare parts, and coordinating activities with manufacturing, engineering, sales, and accounting.
The primary goal is satisfying customer requirements of quality, quantity, and delivery in a safe manner while maximizing productivity.
Responsibilities
- Approves the choice of vendors and authorizes purchase orders based on business needs.
- Researches, identifies, and evaluates potential vendors and facilitates vendor selection.
- Estimates fabricated mechanical and electrical components for the entire organization.
- Follows internal control procurement policies and procedures.
- Develops specific annual purchasing objectives for assigned areas, including cost reduction and quality improvement.
- Prepares detailed cost tables to justify bidding, outsourcing, and budgetary goals, and documentation to support budgetary and estimating requirements.
- Performs other duties as directed.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of purchasing, sourcing, or planning experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and Word).
- Knowledge of purchasing-type MRP systems (SAP preferred).
- Motivated individual capable of learning and working as a team to procure parts, components, and services.
- Must be willing to service internal customers.
