Buyer
Permanent, fully onsite position based in Norfolk, VA.
About the role
Seeks competitive procurements, estimates materials, drafts purchase orders, and is responsible for all rental activities, including drafting rental and service P.O.’s for both in-house needs and active jobs. Arranges rentals for active jobs and in response to in-house needs. Shares responsibility for supervising the Procurement Driver for material deliveries and pick-up. Performs other duties as assigned by the Procurement Manager. Files POs and all supporting documentation.
Responsibilities
- Seek competitive pricing of materials and services sourced in accordance with company procurement procedures and specifications.
- Create purchase orders in the MHI Procurement system to support material and service needs.
- Estimate material and services for bids and potential purchases.
- Update data in the approved vendors list.
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree or equivalent work-related experience.
- Minimum three years of ship repair/building experience, with at least one year of buyer experience in the ship repair/builder industry preferred.
- General knowledge of Contractors Purchasing System Review (CPSR) requirements.
- Working knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) requirements.
- Ability to analyze and resolve complex problems in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Pay
The pay range for this position is $75,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year. Individual compensation within this range will depend on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
