About the role
The Buyer position provides a turnkey procurement solution to either Project or Internal Support groups for all Purchasing related activities. The incumbent is expected to have routine interaction with internal ACCO business leaders and suppliers to ensure ACCO is well represented in the supplier marketplace. This involves communicating ACCO's requirements to suppliers and relaying suppliers' capabilities and needs back to ACCO.
Responsibilities
- Issue subcontracts, equipment POs, and material POs within systems such as JDE, IFS, or GP.
- Review invoices and verify prices against POs and backup documentation; input costs into proper programs.
- Process POs and change orders within required systems.
- Negotiate with vendors for equipment, materials, and day-to-day purchases to ensure competitive pricing and availability.
- Monitor vendor follow-ups to ensure timely delivery of items.
- Maintain professional and ethical relationships with all vendors and subcontractors.
- Assist ACCO personnel in a professional and timely manner while maintaining good working relationships.
- Maintain and update authorized vendor lists for field and sales personnel.
- Stay informed about vendor products, price trends, and hard-to-find parts.
- Manage warranty items and complete warranty tags.
- Handle core credits (e.g., compressors) from vendors.
- Coordinate service calls for copiers and facsimiles.
- Collaborate with the shipping and receiving department; occasionally responsible for all shipping and receiving tasks.
- Check tools in and out from the tool crib.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent; college coursework in Business, Economics, or Management preferred.
- Proficiency in invoice processing and financial variance support or a single emphasis in areas such as AFE, Online Accounts, Misapplied Costs, Bidtracer Contact Management, Diverse Businesses, SQM, IT Support, or ACCO Online Store within the first 4 weeks.
- Working knowledge of HVAC parts and equipment preferred.
- Knowledge of local manufacturer representatives, dealers, and contractors (e.g., electrical, general, crane) is a plus.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a related position or industry.
- Demonstrated accuracy and detail-oriented approach to data entry.
- Team player attitude with a willingness to learn and perform various functions.
- Proficient-plus level user of MS Excel and MS Word.
- Strong verbal communication and listening skills, both over the phone and in person.
- Ability to work effectively and professionally in a team environment.
- Strong business writing skills, including proper grammar and terminology.
- High customer service skills.
- Ability to organize large amounts of information while maintaining attention to detail.

Schedule
This is an exempt position. Workdays are Monday through Friday, with typical hours between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm as scheduled with the supervisor. Occasional overtime may be required based on business needs. Travel is 0–5% of the time, primarily between the primary office and regional branch offices.
Pay
Competitive wages ranging from $58,000 to $72,000 annually. Actual compensation is determined by factors unique to each candidate, including skills, experience, certifications, education, and work location.
