Buyer
About the role
The Buyer is responsible for managing the full procurement lifecycle, from sourcing products through part delivery, for the Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) depot supporting an operational program at AAR in service of a government customer. This role includes resolving product and cost discrepancies, evaluating supplier performance, and ensuring timely delivery of materials. The Buyer ensures AAR receives the best overall value while building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers. Additionally, the Buyer ensures compliance with all applicable requirements, supports other procurement initiatives as needed, and actively identifies continuous improvement opportunities while performing all assigned duties.
Responsibilities
- Develop strong relationships with all vendors and ensure that AAR is getting the best possible services, value, and prices on quotes and purchase orders.
- Expedite purchase orders.
- Identify and make improvements in overall inventory processes by reviewing and optimizing stock levels.
- Understand market conditions and opportunities to leverage AAR's volume in the marketplace.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, internal customers and other key stakeholders.
- Sources, solicits, and negotiates pricing with qualified vendors for products and services to ensure AAR receives the best overall value, while maintaining proper documentation and filing in accordance with CPSR requirements.
- Analyze quotes and conduct source selection to determine the vendor(s) which provide the best value, or lowest price, while aligning with AAR’s operational requirements and meeting AAR policy and procedure requirements.
- Prepare for internal and external audits and make sure all policies and procedures are followed to ensure the highest standard of quality and compliance.
- Promote a team environment with a positive attitude.
Requirements
- Ability to obtain a government CAC and a Secret Security Clearance (as required).
- Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A.) or Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university; or eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Preferred background in Logistics and Supply Chain Management or Business Administration.
- Airplane experience preferred.
- PC literate (Word, Excel, Access).
