About the Opportunity

The Buyer, Animal Health manages inventory and procurement activities for assigned suppliers across the organization's distribution centers. This role ensures appropriate inventory levels to maximize customer service while controlling investment and costs. The position also plays a key role in supplier relationships, purchasing decisions, inventory performance, and product availability.

Responsibilities

  • Partner daily with suppliers and advocate for the organization's business interests.
  • Procure products by evaluating cost, discounts, contracts, delivery requirements, demand, and product availability.
  • Maintain vendor inventory levels to achieve established key performance indicators.
  • Participate in supplier meetings, events, and business reviews.
  • Recommend improvements to supplier contracts, programs, and agreements.
  • Develop practical solutions to tactical procurement and inventory challenges.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to resolve inventory discrepancies and support distribution needs.
  • Support sales teams with customer service requests and product availability issues.
  • Communicate vendor programs, performance issues, and opportunities to management with supporting analysis and recommendations.
  • Independently research and resolve purchasing, inventory, and supplier issues.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in business, supply management, procurement, or a related field.
  • Two to four years of progressively responsible relevant experience.
  • Experience in animal health purchasing or procurement preferred.
  • Knowledge of procurement principles, processes, and supplier management practices.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and SAP.
  • Ability to develop and implement processes that comply with audit requirements.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally as required.

Pay Range

Annual salary range of $59,500–$119,020, with compensation varying based on geographic location.
