Buyer and Planner

Quanex is looking for a Buyer and Planner to join our team located in Trumann, AR. The Buyer and Planner plays a key role in supporting production operations by ensuring materials are available when needed, managing inventory accuracy, and coordinating purchasing activities. Direct impact on production performance and customer satisfactionOpportunity to collaborate across operations, supply chain, and vendor networksExposure to Lean manufacturing practices and continuous improvement initiatives What Success Looks Like Ensure raw materials and components are available to meet daily production requirementsIssue, monitor, and close production orders while maintaining schedule accuracyPerform and reconcile cycle counts, investigating variances using root-cause analysis methodsMaintain the integrity of Kanban systems and production scheduling processesMonitor inventory levels and recommend improvements to inventory turns and material flowCreate and manage purchase orders and blanket order releases for local vendorsTrack and expedite supplier orders to ensure on-time delivery and uninterrupted productionServe as a primary point of contact for suppliers and support vendor performance evaluationsSupport compliance with company purchasing procedures, Sarbanes-Oxley, and ISO requirementsAbility to travel occasionally for vendor visits What You Bring Minimum 2 years of purchasing, inventory control, materials management, or related experienceStrong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and inventory management systemsExcellent communication and relationship-building skills with internal teams and external suppliersAbility to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a Lean manufacturing environment The salary range for this position is $21 to $26 per hour with potential to earn an annual bonus.
