Buyer- Advanced Purchasing
About the role
The Advanced Purchasing Buyer serves as the single point of contact for Purchasing/Supply Chain within the cross-functional program team. They manage RFIs/RFQs processes, quote analysis, and secure competitive pricing to maximize total value of ownership. This role tracks purchasing milestones aligned with the product development lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Manage RFIs/RFQs process, quote analysis, and secure competitive pricing to maximize total value of ownership
- Track purchasing milestones in alignment with the overall product development lifecycle (e.g., APQP, PPAP, and launch phases)
- Assess supplier capacity and manufacturing readiness to support pre-production builds, prototype phases, and ramp-up to volume production
- Coordinate the qualifications of new suppliers
- Develop and maintain supplier performance metrics and systems
- Maintain all required records of purchases, prices, and deliveries
- Coverage of purchasing activities with global purchasing organization
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field. Technical or Supply Chain degree preferred
- 5+ years related experience. Previous experience with automotive or electronics products
- Experience with SAP ERP is required
- Experience of supplier development and sourcing in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to work within a cross-functional, globally matrix, project team environment
- Demonstrated proficiency in managing multiple priorities and complex workloads
- Strong negotiation skills with proven ability to influence outcomes and drive measurable results
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, tooling specifications and electronics material specifications, and technical standards
- Previous experience of purchasing Electro-mechanical switches is highly preferred
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills, including negotiation and influencing
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with senior management, supervisors, vendors and employees
Qualifications
Essential functions include serving as the single point of contact for Purchasing/Supply Chain within the cross-functional program team, managing RFIs/RFQs processes, quote analysis, and securing competitive pricing to maximize total value of ownership, tracking purchasing milestones aligned with the product development lifecycle, assessing supplier capacity and manufacturing readiness to support pre-production builds, prototype phases, and ramp-up to volume production, coordinating the qualifications of new suppliers, developing and maintaining supplier performance metrics and systems, maintaining all required records of purchases, prices, and deliveries, and covering purchasing activities with global purchasing organization.
