About the Role
Kreischer Miller is seeking busy season (January–April) interns for 2028. The internship runs from early January to early April and is full-time and in-person. Any hours worked beyond 40 in a week are paid at time-and-a-half. Overtime in the evenings or on weekends may be required due to the nature of the work. Interns are expected not to take classes during this period without prior authorization.
Interns will work under the supervision of talented CPAs, gaining diversified assignments and the opportunity to work directly with business owners across various industries. Performance is evaluated based on work quality, application of accounting knowledge, and client service.
Responsibilities
Audit & Accounting Interns may perform the following duties:
- Learn and apply daily technology used in the Audit & Accounting department.
- Assist staff and senior accountants with tasks such as mailing client confirmations, updating internal control forms, and preparing depreciation schedules.
- Prepare basic work papers in Excel to test client accounts (e.g., cash, prepaid expenses, accrued expenses, fixed assets).
- Support senior accountants, managers, and directors on the Audit & Accounting team.
Tax Interns may perform the following duties:
- Learn and apply daily technology used in the Tax department.
- Prepare tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and/or trusts.
- Prepare tax work papers in Excel; use Adobe to "mark up" client workpapers.
- Support senior accountants, managers, and directors on the Tax team.
Requirements
- Working toward a BS or MS in Accounting (resumes without GPA will not be considered).
- Include graduation date and expected number of credits upon graduation; transcripts from all schools attended are requested.
- Strong commitment to excellence, client service, and professional growth.
- Ability to work independently, identify issues, and propose solutions.
- Positive attitude, good communication skills, and willingness to learn.
- Team player motivated to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in computers and software programs.
- Ability to quickly understand the "big picture," identify key issues, and prioritize tasks.
Working Conditions
- Hybrid work model with an expectation of three days per week in the office (varies by role).
- Some same-day travel to client offices using a personal vehicle may be required.
- Overtime may be necessary in evenings or on weekends.
