About the role
This position is responsible for all activities pertaining to cleaning and maintenance of food and beverage wares, kitchens, and service areas, as well as delivery of guest supplies in a pleasant, upbeat, and efficient fashion. The organization, sanitation, and cost of operations must align with the overall Food & Beverage goals and objectives.
Responsibilities
- Create an atmosphere that encourages guests to choose Hard Rock Hotel New York for gaming entertainment; actively build and retain guest relations and mentor team members to deliver superior guest service.
- Greet guests and provide outstanding customer service.
- Supply all food items needed to maintain efficient operations.
- Prepare and maintain food lines and self-service stations.
- Transport food items from the kitchen to respective areas.
- Inform chefs of all prepared food items needed.
- Assist in the kitchen with product preparation, dishwashing, and ensure an ample supply of dishes and utensils.
- Monitor temperatures of all food items in holding units.
- Maintain the appearance of food throughout the day or event by handling food according to sanitation codes, rotating food as needed, handling items by the rims, lining up food items by courses and presentation, and ensuring all food appears fresh.
- Maintain all beverage areas with necessary beverages.
- Complete all set-up duties on time.
- Ensure the overall cleanliness and appearance of assigned areas and kitchens.
- Assist in the main kitchen with the preparation of various dishes as required.
- Maintain knowledge of daily food items being served.
- Rotate and maintain inventory of all food.
- Use proper transfer slips for all items coming and going to the kitchen.
- Load dinner plates, dessert plates, and bowls in proper areas.
- Put away and rotate all food storeroom orders.
- Put away all dry goods at the beginning of the day.
- Interact positively with guests to enhance guest relations.
- Bus tables at the end of guest meals; maintain 15–20 tables.
- Transport dish cart to and from service station/stewards station.
- Maintain cleanliness in server stations as well as the dining room.
- Abide by all cash handling policies and procedures.
- Remove dirty dishes and glassware from guest tables during and after each course.
- Refill drinks when needed.
- Complete all opening and closing duties.
- Check and clean equipment regularly; ensure preventative maintenance programs are followed and communicate any needed repairs.
- Work considerately with team members from all departments.
- Advise supervisor when supplies are needed.
- Inform supervisor of guest needs that may require special accommodations.
- Check with supervisor on duty before ending shift.
Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalency preferred; ability to read and write English required.
- One year of guest service experience in a family or formal dining environment preferred.
- Casino Food & Beverage experience preferred.
- Must have a valid Food Handlers Card, Liquor License, and IGC Badge when working.
Physical demands
- Must be able to stand 50% of the shift, walk 45% of the shift, and sit 5% of the shift.
- Must be able to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, and reach with arms and hands.
- Must regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds.
Additional requirements
- Must successfully pass a background check.
- Must successfully pass a drug screening.
- Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
- Must be able to work holidays and weekends, as well as flexible shifts.
Pay
$2 – $25 per hour
