About the Role
The primary duty of a busser is to clean and set up tables in the outlet, perform other food service related duties, and ensure empty tables are ready to receive new guests. You will provide friendly, courteous, and efficient service to all guests.
Responsibilities
- Clean, set, and reset tables continuously, assuming responsibility for your station, tables, and side duties.
- Serve water, bread, and coffee, and greet guests by name whenever possible during meal service.
- Stack trays properly for efficient unloading by stewarding and ensure proper safety standards at all times.
- Perform set-up duties as requested, including side stations, storage areas, and food staging areas.
- Perform general cleaning tasks to adhere to health and safety standards.
- Fold napkins for meal periods to maintain an adequate supply.
- Address unexpected spills and execute special guest requests as needed.
Requirements
- Must be able to speak and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
- Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Must possess basic computational ability.
Physical Demands
- Most work tasks are performed indoors in moderate, controlled temperatures, but you must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10°F) and kitchens (+110°F) for up to one hour or more.
- Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 4 hours at a time.
- Must be able to maneuver in limited spaces and handle functions occurring simultaneously.
- Must have the ability to bend, squat, and lift up to 50 lbs., including lifting trays of food or food items regularly.
- Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs. on a regular basis.
- Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, hearing, and visual acuity.
- Talking and hearing occur continuously when communicating with guests, supervisors, and other employees.
- Vision requirements include near and color vision, as well as depth perception.
- Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent education required.
- No prior experience required, though public contact experience is desired.
Grooming Standards
All employees must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance per Mondrian South Beach Hospitality standards.
Schedule
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. Attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.
