About the role

The Business Unit Manager is responsible for managing, leading, and ensuring profitability of all aspects of the business units’ profit and loss statements (P/L). This position will develop and implement sound business strategies to drive profitable revenue growth and margin improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Creates and owns the annual regional P&L: GP budget, headcount model, organizational design across five functions, strategies by service line and vertical, and end-of-year projections.
  • Publishes monthly GP results (new + retained + growth) versus budget with clear variance drivers.
  • Owns the weekly and monthly scoreboard that drives all decisions—pipeline status, retention cohorts, margin performance, commission payouts, staffing gaps, and strategic progress to Senior Management.
  • Establishes and enforces margin floors by service line and approves every below-floor deal with documented business case and recovery plan. Ensures new-business average deal margins remain healthy and protects the spread across the entire portfolio.
  • Owns the account retention target by conducting regular account-health reviews with the AM Team Lead, activating recovery plans on at-risk accounts, and monitoring cohort-level churn and margin erosion. Protects the recurring revenue annuity that funds the entire organization.
  • Partners with the Sales manager to set quotas, manage pipeline discipline, review attainment, coach significant deals, and ensure win-rate targets are met. Governs all sales commissions, approves exceptions, and enforces clawback policies to maintain plan integrity.
  • Orchestrates the seamless transition of new customers from Sales to Account Management, including service setup, initial delivery validation, and go-live issue resolution. Serves as the primary integrator across all five functions to ensure they work as one cohesive unit.
  • Ensures adequate vendor coverage across service lines and territories, manages vendor performance through regular scorecard review, identifies cost-reduction opportunities, and monitors vendor compliance and service redundancy.
  • Recruits and develops the leadership team across all five functions, conducts regular performance reviews, identifies promotion-ready talent, manages underperformance, and builds succession plans to ensure organizational continuity.
  • Owns compliance with regulated-waste requirements, ensures every deal follows the competitive-bidding process, and certifies contract hygiene and insurance adequacy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • This position will manage 1-10 employees and oversee other managers.

Requirements
