Business Unit Accountant
About the Role
At Regions, the Business Unit Accountant provides accounting support to assigned business unit. Performs general accounting tasks that may include, but are not limited to, preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and preparing summaries or supporting documentation for reports. All work is performed in accordance with company policy and procedures, generally accepted accounting principles, and appropriate standards and regulations. This position provides timely and accurate financial reports to management while supporting and leading the business unit accounting functions in the efficient handling of day to day operations.
Primary Responsibilities
- Maintains and reconciles general ledger and subsidiary ledger accounts of assigned business unit
- Prepares special accounting reports for management or regulatory authorities
- Investigates potential problems and gathers appropriate data for solutions
- Prepares and completes month end reporting of business unit results
- Conducts financial analyses, audits, and/or investigations businesses expenses
- Assists in developing and monitoring accounting internal control programs for assigned unit
- Provides advice to financial managers and other accountants on unusual and difficult accounting systems and/or operations problems
- Analyzes financial information for the purpose of providing direction and support, making recommendations, maximizing use of funds and ensuring overall operations are within budget
- Reconciles other general ledger accounts as assigned
- Prepares ad hoc analysis for management
- Assists company external auditors and internal auditors, as needed, to ensure an efficient and effective audit process
- Resolves disputed items and answer routine inquiries
- Performs balance sheet reconciliations as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field and three (3) years of accounting or directly related experience
- Or High School Diploma and seven (7) years of directly related experience

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Tax Accounting Preferred. This position may be filled at a higher level depending on the candidate's qualifications and relevant experience.
Pay
Minimum Job Range Target: $62,542.15 USD. Median: $86,430.00 USD.
This job is not incentive eligible.

This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.
