Business Systems Analyst (contract)

Responsibilities

• Provide application support for internal app, including:
• Monitoring and analyzing system-generated reports identifying missing or incomplete data (e.g., branch numbers, customer attributes)
• Investigating and resolving data failures and exceptions
• Maintaining and updating data mappings and business rules logic
• Performing advanced SQL querying to analyze data issues and exceptions
• Validating mappings and data flows
• Serving in a Product Owner / Agile role, including:
• Writing user stories, features, and acceptance criteria
• Gathering and documenting business and technical requirements
• Participating in Agile ceremonies and backlog prioritization
• Developing high-quality technical documentation, including:
• Process documentation and standard operating procedures
• Data mapping and transformation logic
• Application workflows and support guides
• Collaborating closely with technology owners, business stakeholders, and data teams to design solutions and improve system functionality
• Supporting UAT and regression testing, ensuring system changes meet business requirements and data integrity standards
• Facilitating communication and coordination across business and technology teams

Qualifications

• Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S.

• Strong technical writing skills, with experience documenting processes and requirements
• Strong SQL expertise, with the ability to write complex queries and analyze large datasets
• Proven experience working with data mapping, data flows, and data validation
• Experience collaborating with both technical teams and business stakeholders
• Hands-on experience working in an Agile environment (user stories, backlog management, requirements gathering)
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Experience with financial crimes, risk management, or compliance systems
• Familiarity with banking and transactional data
• Experience with ACH, EFT, and wire transactions (preferred)
• Experience with process improvement and business rule optimization
• Familiarity with Power BI and/or Microsoft Access for reporting and analysis
• Exposure to Newton (nice to have)
• Prior experience in financial services or large banking environments (e.g., Wells Fargo)
