About the role

This role supports the technology needs of the organization by acting as the liaison between the business and IT, providing business-critical or complex technical solutions that meet user needs. The Business Systems Analyst improves business performance through technical analysis of business requirements, prioritization, and user acceptance testing, ensuring clear, detailed, and concise requirements are captured.

This position requires routine or periodic travel, which may involve driving a personal or rental vehicle. Acceptable results of a Motor Vehicle Record report at the time of hire and periodically thereafter, along with maintenance of minimum acceptable insurance coverages, are required.

Responsibilities

  • Understand business processes and the interdependencies of various systems in use.
  • Facilitate interactive discussions with business units and technology teams to achieve alignment on defining requirements.
  • Elicit detailed system requirements and create workflows to address business demands.
  • Gather, analyze, document, and translate business requirements into functional specifications for solution design and implementation.
  • Identify and communicate risks, issues, and potential solution strategies, providing status updates to senior leadership and impacted teammates.
  • Lead facilitated sessions with business users to identify system enhancements.
  • Document and obtain sign-off on business requirements.
  • Communicate project priorities to the IT team.
  • Assist in creating training materials and train end users on system enhancements and new programs.
  • Provide reports and data extracts to internal and external business partners.
  • Train, mentor, and support other staff members.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 8–10 years of related experience.
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Suite, Office365 (focus on Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Experience with new system implementations, workflows, requirements gathering, and the software life cycle.
  • Insurance industry experience, specifically Personal Lines (Home Owners).
  • Experience working with an offshore resource model.
  • Ability to mentor and provide direction to peers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Insurance industry experience in MGU (Managing General Underwriter).
  • Experience with Unqork, Solartis, and Salesforce systems.

Physical Requirements

  • Manual dexterity, arm, and upper body range of motion sufficient for use of a keyboard, mouse, and telephone for 7–8 hours per day.
  • Vision sufficient for use of a computer monitor.
  • Ability to sit at a desk for 7–8 hours per day.
