Business Systems Analyst, Associate

About The Role

The Associate Principal Business Systems Analyst (BSA) is a pivotal role within The Hanover’s technology and business teams. This full-time, exempt position is based in Worcester, MA, with flexible work arrangements including hybrid or remote options. The BSA acts as a primary liaison between business units and technical teams, ensuring that system functionalities align with organizational goals. The role involves analyzing business processes, translating requirements into technical specifications, and leading initiatives that enhance operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of various technical architectures and platforms, with the ability to manage complex projects that integrate business rules, data, and technology solutions. As a senior member of the team, the BSA will also mentor junior analysts, contribute to the development of standards and procedures, and lead testing efforts to ensure successful implementation of solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in business analysis or systems analysis
• Proficiency in identifying and defining business and technical requirements
• Experience with data management activities including data mapping, modeling, and analysis
• Knowledge of database components such as stored procedures, functions, triggers, and packages
• Strong communication, facilitation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
• Able to work effectively with cross-functional teams and mentor others
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
• Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies and changing business needs
• Experience with system testing, including user acceptance testing (UAT)

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with business partners to gather and understand requirements, translating them into technical solutions
• Partner with IT teams, including architects, developers, and QA analysts, to define system goals and capabilities
• Create and lead the development of business and technical requirements, rules, and processes using techniques such as data modeling and prototyping
• Mentor team members in understanding system interdependencies and evaluating project impacts
• Establish standards, procedures, and guidelines to ensure consistency across projects
• Lead system and user acceptance testing efforts to validate solutions
• Evaluate and improve system performance, including revising logic for efficiency
• Serve as a subject matter expert on multiple systems within The Hanover’s technology portfolio
• Support multiple initiatives by integrating business processes, rules, and data with technology solutions
• Provide guidance during system implementation, ensuring alignment with business needs
