This full-time position is located in Irvine, CA and pays $23.11 an hour.

Responsibilities

  • Optimize employment opportunities and vocational rehabilitation services available for customers, including opportunities developed through transitional employment.
  • Use Active Staffing and other contacts to conduct employer outreach and identify employers able to provide transitional employment with a goal of permanent hire.
  • Develop transitional employment agreements and submit them to supervisor for approval.
  • Coordinate screening and referral of customer candidates for transitional employment.
  • Build relationships with transitional employment employers to ensure satisfaction with candidate referrals.
  • Prepare customers for transitional employment interviews; understand company culture and needs and ensure the customer is able to fulfill those needs.
  • Conduct employer outreach to identify potential employment for vocational rehabilitation fast-track customers, including marketing of on-the-job training and other means to support employment.
  • Understand and incorporate accommodations into employer communications to maximize customer employment opportunities.
  • Build relationships with employers to ensure satisfaction with services and repeat business.
  • Match customers to jobs available in WeCARE and other systems; refer customers to jobs.
  • Prepare customers for interviews; understand company culture and needs and ensure the customer is able to fulfill those needs.
  • Conduct work-readiness sessions in small groups or one-on-one; review labor market information and assist with resume preparation, job applications, and interviewing skills development.
  • Coordinate with job developers from other organizations, including Workforce1, to ensure customers have access to a broad array of employment opportunities.
  • Conduct customized employer outreach to accommodate specific customer needs.
  • Receive and use daily, real-time feedback on the effectiveness of work and use it to improve performance as warranted.
  • Maintain follow-up contact with employers to determine satisfaction with services and plan for quality improvement.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in social services or a related field such as psychology, vocational rehabilitation, or occupational rehabilitation, and four years of direct customer service experience providing services in a clinical or social service environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in programs that place customers in employment.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, team environment that is performance driven.
  • Experience with publicly-funded programs; Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) experience preferred.
  • Experience in assessing the need for and making reasonable accommodations for customers.
  • Knowledge of laws and regulatory requirements related to program responsibilities.
  • Experience developing employment opportunities for individuals with medical limitations, justice-impacted, monolingual, and academically challenged populations.
  • Ability to match and place an average of 10 to 15 job seekers monthly in unsubsidized employment opportunities.
  • Must have a job bank of employers covering the following sectors: Security, Transportation, Healthcare/Social Services, Administration, Hospitality, Food Service, Maintenance/Laborers, Retail/Customer Service, Education and Technology.
  • Experience coordinating and organizing on-site hiring events and job fairs for single and multiple employers.
  • Capable of preparing and delivering weekly and monthly reports measuring self-placement performance.
  • Bilingual preferred.

Skills

  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Exceptional customer and employer service and engagement skills; training or experience in motivational interviewing techniques preferred.
  • Ability to work independently; must be self-motivated.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and adhere to the duties, methods, and procedures required by the position.
  • Ability to use various electronic systems to carry out duties and responsibilities.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Standard hours of work Monday through Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, however evening and weekend hours will be required.
  • Travel may be required.
