About the role
The Business Process Senior Associate will support the execution of enterprise-level initiatives across New York Racing Association (NYRA), aligning processes with federal regulations, internal House Rules, and strategic initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Support the development, documentation, implementation, and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across NYRA's business operations, including racing operations, racing office functions, security, veterinary, and other departments under HISA/HIWU federal regulation.
- Work closely with senior leadership and department heads to document or improve existing workflows, develop new processes as needed, establish process standards, and ensure operational consistency across the organization.
- Coordinate proposed updates to NYRA House Rules, ensuring all updates are approved and publicly distributed.
- Support strategic initiatives and special projects as organizational priorities evolve, providing project management and operational support for key enterprise initiatives in alignment with NYRA Strategic Plan.
- Develop and maintain process inventories of SOPs for each department, assess and prioritize needs and requests for additional SOPs, and ensure SOPs reflect regulatory obligations including those related to: New York State Gaming Commission regulations, HISA rules, internal NYRA operational policies, and House Rules.
- Analyze business processes and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, consistency, and accountability.
- Create and maintain process inventories of SOPs for each department, and assess and prioritize needs and requests for additional SOPs.
- Assist with the HISA annual accreditation audit, including providing and developing supporting documentation.
- Communicate updated House Rules documents internally and externally.
- Support the Office of the CEO and senior leadership in implementing and tracking key initiatives contained within NYRA’s strategic plan.
- Identify opportunities for improved cross-department coordination and operational efficiency.
- Support organizational readiness efforts related to major operational changes and business initiatives.
- Provide project management support for cross-functional projects involving multiple NYRA departments, coordinate project timelines, stakeholder meetings, deliverables, and reporting, and assist in managing complex initiatives such as: Belmont Park operational planning, operational modernization efforts, and process improvement initiatives.
- Support special projects and executive initiatives as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree required.
- 2–5 years of experience in project management, operations, consulting, business process improvement, or strategic planning.
- Experience developing operational documentation, process maps, or Standard Operating Procedures required.
- Experience working in complex operational environments such as sports venues, racing organizations, entertainment venues, hospitality operations, construction-related operations, or regulated industries is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and stakeholder groups.
