About the Role

The School of International Letters and Cultures is seeking a highly motivated Business Operations Manager Senior to manage and maintain the business operations and human resources functions of the academic unit. This position serves as a resource for the School Director, providing budgetary guidance and strategic planning support.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares budgets, forecasts, and financial reports for strategic planning and financial health.
  • Reconciles transactions monthly, analyzes data, and ensures expenditures are within budget guidelines.
  • Processes funding transfers, scholarship disbursements, and monitors faculty funds.
  • Maintains budget position control report and vacancy savings analysis.
  • Stays current with policies, practices, and regulations affecting business and operational activities.
  • Serves as Authorized Travel Official (ATO) for travel requests and expense reports.
  • Handles internal and external audits and prepares necessary documentation.
  • Oversees space utilization and annual space survey.
  • Approves financial/purchasing transactions and processes reimbursements, travel, and p-card transactions.
  • Works with Research Administration on post-award processes and grant budgets.
  • Supports human resource functions, including time entry, position renewals, hiring, and terminations.
  • Supervises, evaluates, and directs assigned staff.
  • Contributes to building a sense of community for faculty, staff, and students.
  • Represents the school at meetings and serves as a liaison with other university areas.
  • Assists the School Director with special projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and seven (7) years of relevant experience, including two (2) years of managerial experience; OR equivalent combination of experience and/or training.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge in budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning principles.
  • Ability to prepare, audit, understand, and interpret complex financial and budgetary data.
  • Experience with academic personnel actions, Interfolio/APARS, Workday HCM and FMS, and Concur.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Experience in higher education, preferably in an academic unit.
  • Skill in problem-solving, decision-making, and effective communication.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Experience with ASU/ABOR policies and procedures related to financials, human resources, and sponsored projects.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Experience managing and evaluating staff.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Drive, Dropbox, and Adobe.

Pay

Salary Range: $90,000 - $98,000 annually; DOE

Department Statement

The School of International Letters and Cultures is one of 19 academic units within The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, offering rich educational experiences in languages and cultures. With approximately 200 faculty and staff, SILC offers 28 undergraduate degrees, 12 graduate degrees, and 15 summer study abroad programs, serving around 600 majors and 70 graduate students.

Working Environment

Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting with extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and using a computer mouse. Requires standing, walking, and occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 25 pounds.
