About the role
We are seeking a skilled Business Operations Associate to join our Energy Products Team at Tesla, focusing on Virtual Power Plant (VPP) programs. Tesla has rapidly expanded our VPP footprint in North America, reaching more than 250,000 batteries in aggregation across more than 20 states, territories, and countries. This role involves managing and improving back-end workflows that keep the business of providing grid services running. Collaboration with internal teams such as business development, finance, data science & analytics, engineering, and support will be essential to drive initiatives and scale the business.
Responsibilities
- Manage contract invoicing pipeline for all active programs
- Generate operational reports & alerts to enable business efficiency and efficacy
- Support VPP business day-to-day operations
- Evaluate and maintain team P&L in support of broader company KPIs
- Develop and implement templates for business workflows and communications
- Manage program-level processes for grid services settlement and compensation
Requirements
- Degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 1–3 years experience in demand response or managed charging programs and their administration (as an aggregator, DERMS, OEM, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills, with the ability to thrive in a lean, fast-paced setting
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to engage with diverse stakeholders, including business development, operations, and finance
- Proficiency in data analytics and visualization tools like SQL, Excel, Tableau, or other reporting software
Qualifications
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Knowledge of energy markets and regulatory requirements
