About the Role
We are looking for candidates who have a passion for helping court-involved youth. The Division of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention is committed to the reduction and prevention of juvenile delinquency by effectively intervening, educating, and treating youth in order to strengthen families and increase public safety. The Youth Development Centers are an integral part of the juvenile justice continuum that serves adjudicated youth in a safe and secure environment, providing a variety of services and programs tailored to meet the needs of each youth through a strength-based approach.
The primary purpose of the Business Officer position is to administer and manage the business and financial affairs of a youth development center. This role facilitates and manages financial resources that may be state appropriated, contract and grant, and/or receipt generated. The position performs financial and business-related duties associated with accounting, budgeting, auditing, and/or grants administration. Functions may include financial management, personnel administration/management, payroll, purchasing, inventory control, facilities coordination/planning, and information technology assessment.
This position will have direct supervision over Administrative Staff and the Food Service Manager, including full responsibility for the development, counsel, discipline, and evaluation performance of direct report employees.
Responsibilities
- Administer and manage the business and financial affairs of a youth development center.
- Facilitate and manage financial resources from state appropriations, contracts, grants, and receipts.
- Perform financial and business-related duties in accounting, budgeting, auditing, and grants administration.
- Oversee financial management, personnel administration, payroll, purchasing, inventory control, and facilities coordination.
- Supervise Administrative Staff and the Food Service Manager, including performance evaluation and discipline.
- Develop and implement capital expense proposals.
- Communicate expectations to staff at all levels, aligning with agency core values.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, or a related discipline from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of progressive related experience, two years of which should be in a supervisory role. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also qualify.
Management Preferences
These skills are preferred but not required. Applicants demonstrating the following may be prioritized for interviews:
- Experience managing a budget for a large organization.
- Experience with accounting practices for a large organization.
- Experience with capital expense proposals.
- Experience supervising a team of employees.
- Experience communicating with staff at all levels to align expectations with agency core values.
Pay
$60,881 - $83,712 annually. Salary will be based on relevant qualifications, internal equity, and budgetary considerations.
Schedule
Full-time position, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (40 hours per week).

- Degrees and transcripts must be received from an appropriately accredited college or university.
