About the role

The Business Manager role at Lehigh University's Information and Technology Services (ITS) division is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation of a research-intensive university. This position requires a candidate who can bring order to complexity and support academic and research excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the full range of departmental business and administrative functions across ITS, ensuring day-to-day operations align with University policies and procedures
  • Manage financial transactions, purchasing activity, and vendor relationships, supporting accurate and timely processing across the division
  • Administer contracts and service agreements, serving as a key point of contact for internal and external partners on procurement and compliance matters
  • Prepare operational and financial reports that equip ITS leadership and the Director, Administration & Planning with the information needed to make sound decisions
  • Maintain budget activity, track expenditures, and flag variances to support sound fiscal management across ITS cost centers
  • Serve as a resource to ITS staff on University business processes, helping teams navigate administrative requirements efficiently and with confidence
  • Cook up onboarding and offboarding administrative tasks for ITS staff, including equipment procurement, system access requests, and space management
  • Coordinate on divisional initiatives, including scheduling, documentation, and follow-through on action items for ITS leadership
  • Liaise with central University departments — including Finance, Procurement, and Human Resources — to ensure ITS administrative needs are addressed in a timely manner
  • Identify opportunities to streamline administrative workflows and contribute to continuous improvement across ITS business operations

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
  • Three to five years of work related experience
  • Demonstrated experience in business administration, financial coordination, or operational management — ideally within higher education or a comparably structured organization
  • Solid working knowledge of purchasing, accounts payable, and contract administration processes
  • Proven ability to interpret and apply institutional policies, translating them into clear guidance for staff and stakeholders
  • Strong analytical skills with experience producing clear, accurate financial or operational reports
  • A collaborative approach to working across organizational boundaries, including with technology teams, finance, and external vendors

Qualifications

  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field

Pay

The approximate salary range for this position is $56,030-$68,190, subject to change based on experience, skills, and qualifications.

Schedule

This position may allow the employee to work partially remote as deemed appropriate by their supervisor.
