At PNNL, our core capabilities are divided among major departments called Directorates, each focused on a specific area of scientific research or function. The Earth and Biological Sciences Directorate (EBSD) leads critical research in Atmospheric, Climate & Earth Sciences, Biological Sciences, Environmental Molecular Sciences, and Global Change. Our vision is to develop a predictive understanding of biological and Earth systems in transition.

The Environmental Molecular Sciences Division is comprised of 18 interdisciplinary research teams focused on deciphering molecular-level interactions driving biological and environmental processes. The division also manages the Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory (EMSL), a Department of Energy, Office of Science user facility that provides access to world-class expertise, instrumentation, and computational resources.

About the role

Candidate will work in the Management and Operation Group of the Environmental Molecular Sciences Division, specifically supporting the User Program Services Team. Day-to-day activities will include administrative and project coordination for EMSL. This is an on-site role, funded 20 hours per week during the school year with the potential for additional hours during breaks and the summer.

Responsibilities

  • Administrative and project coordination for EMSL, a DOE Office of Science, Biological and Environmental Research program National User Facility.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or higher.
  • Degree-seeking undergraduate student enrolled at an accredited college or university.
  • Taking at least 6 credit hours with an overall cumulative GPA of 2.50.
  • Pursuing an administrative, business, or project management degree (preferred).

Skills

  • Proficient use of standard office equipment and MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform independent and complex tasks.

Pay

Minimum Salary: USD $17.13/Hr. Maximum Salary: USD $27.02/Hr.

PNNL is located in eastern Washington State, known for its outdoor recreation and affordable cost of living. The Lab’s campus is a 45-minute flight or ~3-hour drive from Seattle or Portland, serviced by the PSC airport.
