Responsibilities
- Own the Databricks Lakehouse as a major data source feeding BI/analytics and the foundation for AI enablement - clusters, jobs, SQL warehouses, Unity Catalog, cost/performance, and integration into Power BI, Tableau, and Fabric.
- Use Databricks to enable AI - data prep, semantic/serving layers, and model/agent workflows that power natural-language and agentic analytics.
- Design and govern semantic models, datasets, and self-service solutions (certified datasets, metrics, definitions, glossary).
- Enable conversational/agentic analytics on Power BI, Tableau, and Fabric, and configure AI agents that help users find reports, interpret metrics, and resolve issues.
- Integrate BI tools and conversational analytics into collaboration surfaces via MCP - Slack, Microsoft Teams, Claude, and custom portals - so users can query enterprise data where they work.
- Collaborate with Data Engineering and AI teams to integrate LLMs, RAG, copilots, and agents with the analytics platforms.
- Administer Power BI, Tableau, and Microsoft Fabric (capacity, gateways, security, content lifecycle, licensing).
- Maintain connectivity, security, and performance across data sources, with Databricks as the primary source alongside SAP HANA, SQL Server, MySQL, and AWS Redshift.
- Monitor platform health, lead upgrades and onboarding of new technologies, and partner with business teams (Sales, Finance, HR, Operations).
- Provide technical support and training to analysts, power users, and business users.
Requirements
- 5-8 years administering enterprise BI/analytics platforms, hands-on with Power BI and Tableau (Fabric a plus).
- Deep Databricks experience - clusters, jobs, Unity Catalog, Databricks SQL - as a major data source and the foundation for AI enablement.
- Experience using Databricks to enable AI/ML and agentic workflows (model serving, RAG, agent frameworks) that feed BI and conversational analytics.
- Experience enabling conversational/agentic analytics (Power BI Copilot/Q&A, Tableau Pulse/Ask Data) and governing AI agents for end users.
- Solid understanding of AI/ML concepts: LLMs, RAG, vector search, and agent frameworks.
- Strong SQL, data warehousing, dimensional/semantic modeling, metadata management, and lakehouse architecture.
- Proficiency with Python (and/or R, Jupyter) and scripting for automation, plus cloud experience (AWS and/or Azure).
- Ability to leverage AI coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor) to accelerate development, automation, and troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of SAP HANA, and querying experience with SQL Server, MySQL, and AWS Redshift.
- Experience with platform upgrades/migrations and working in Agile, cross-functional teams.
- Strong troubleshooting, end-user support, and BI security/governance skills.
- Bachelor's in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or related field.
- Advanced degree or relevant certifications a plus.
Preferred Skills
- Experience integrating BI/analytics with Slack, Microsoft Teams, Claude, or custom portals via MCP (Model Context Protocol) or similar.
- Azure OpenAI, Databricks AI/ML, or similar AI platforms.
- Alteryx and data governance tools.
- Certifications in Databricks, Fabric, and Power BI a plus (Tableau, AWS, SAP HANA also valued).
- Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management.
