Business Immigration Counsel

About the role

This highly flexible, remote role is designed for candidates who want to focus on immigration law without the administrative and client-development demands of a shareholder or partner track. Ogletree Deakins is one of the largest U.S.-based international law firms, with 60 offices across North America and Europe. The firm’s business immigration practice is among the largest in the U.S., serving domestic and international corporations to facilitate the transfer of skilled employees.

The successful candidate must reside in a state where Ogletree Deakins has a physical office. Qualified applicants with criminal histories will be considered in accordance with applicable fair-chance hiring laws.

Responsibilities

• Review immigration petitions for a full range of U.S. employment visas.
• Participate in the firm’s annual in-person all-attorney retreat.
• Utilize the firm’s extensive learning and development resources and cutting-edge technology.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
• Active license to practice law in good standing in the primary state of residence.
• Minimum of 5+ years of experience practicing business immigration as a licensed attorney.
• Experience working in a high-volume business immigration practice group.
• Outstanding academic credentials.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage cases proactively.
• Excellent research, writing, and editing skills, including drafting affidavits and briefs.
• Strong proofreading, reading comprehension, and time management abilities.

Pay

The expected salary range for this position is $170,000 annually, with actual pay adjusted based on experience, geographic location, and other job-related factors as permitted by law. Salary ranges are provided in compliance with state-specific pay transparency laws for the following locations:
