Business Finance Partner | Remote

About the role

Crossing Hurdles is sourcing experienced corporate finance professionals on behalf of our client, a US-based AI frontier lab, for a remote freelance engagement focused on AI model evaluation. This is not a traditional finance role. Our client is building and refining AI systems that need to perform accurately and reliably across complex financial scenarios - and they need real practitioners to evaluate that work.

What You Will Do

• Review and assess AI-generated responses to business finance and FP&A scenarios
• Identify factual errors, reasoning gaps, and practical limitations in model outputs
• Apply real-world finance judgment to evaluate how well AI handles forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and capital allocation questions
• Provide structured feedback that helps improve model accuracy and domain relevance
• Contribute to prompt testing, edge case identification, and response quality benchmarking

• Financial planning and analysis
• Business partnering and cross-functional finance support
• Budgeting, forecasting, and scenario modeling
• Capital allocation and investment prioritization
• Strategic finance and long-range planning
• KPI development and performance reporting

What We Are Looking For

• 5+ years of experience in FP&A, business finance, or strategic finance roles
• Target backgrounds include: FP&A Analyst, Senior FP&A Manager, Business Finance Partner, Capital Allocation Specialist, Strategic Finance Lead
• CFA or MBA (Finance) preferred but not required
• Strong GAAP knowledge and financial modeling fluency
• Ability to articulate why a financial answer or approach is correct or flawed
• Comfort working independently with minimal direction

Work Style and Expectations

• This is a fully remote, asynchronous-first engagement.
• You set your own hours and work when it suits you.
• The company values consistency and quality over rigid schedules.
• Evaluators who perform well are considered for expanded retainer arrangements.
• You will onboard within 24 hours of acceptance and can begin earning immediately.

Compensation

• Compensation Rate: $100-125/hr (USD)
• Payment: Via Deel, fortnightly
• Commitment: 15-20+ hours/week (minimum 10+ hours/week)
• Type: Long-term engagement, retainer opportunities for strong performers
