Description
The Business Teacher will manage the certification process of students seeking one or more of the short-term, stackable credentials offered in the Business Pathway. The primary responsibilities include:
- Using RISE Up! Trainings and credentialing programs to provide foundational employability skills to help students earn Retail Industry Fundamentals, Customer Service and Sales, and The Business of Retail certifications.
- Using the CBI Curriculum and credentialing programs to provide foundational employability skills, career exploration, and work-based learning.
- Developing supplemental training materials to support students’ ability to earn industry credentials.
- Providing direct and authentic instruction through lesson plans, pacing guides, and activities ensuring adequate time for participants to learn and achieve industry credentials.
- Maintaining a supportive and positive learning environment where students are actively engaged in learning.
- Coordinating with Intervention Specialists to identify students requiring learning accommodations and incorporating those accommodations into instructional activities.
- Providing support and guidance to students developing business skills with an emphasis on employability/soft skills such as teamwork, communication, accountability, and resiliency.
- Incorporating critical thinking and functional academics through project-based and problem-based learning opportunities.
- Ensuring proactive, open, and effective communication with the school team regarding issues and concerns related to participation, performance, and well-being.
- Mentoring, coaching, and advising students on workforce skills needed for employment in the business sector.
- Using personal experiences to guide and positively influence students on leadership development, self-discipline, and optimism.
- Building relationships and contacts with business partners to provide employment opportunities for graduates.
- Maintaining a detailed tracking system and completing all steps of certification processes to ensure participants receive their credential in a timely manner.
Requirements
- A clear FBI/BCI Background Check if not currently licensed.
- If not currently licensed, must be willing to obtain an Ohio Department of Education Career Technical Teaching license.
