About the Role

You spent two or three years in investment banking or consulting and learned how to build a model, structure a deal, and work under pressure. Now you want to apply that rigor to something with more continuity, where you see the business case through to execution and integration, not just the pitch deck. You care about deal making, not just deal modeling. The idea of sourcing a target, running diligence, negotiating terms, and then watching the integration unfold excites you more than another financial restructuring project.

At Synopsys, you will be exposed to the most senior leaders in the company and the deals that shape where we go next.

Responsibilities

  • Source and evaluate M&A targets by partnering with business leaders across Synopsys to identify gaps in product portfolios and growth opportunities
  • Build financial models and business cases that support deal rationale, valuation, and strategic fit for senior leadership review
  • Support deal execution by coordinating due diligence, managing data rooms, and working cross-functionally with legal, finance, and business unit leaders
  • Partner with the strategy function to analyze market trends, competitive dynamics, and technology shifts that inform M&A priorities
  • Track and support post-close integration efforts by ensuring deal value drivers are understood and progress is visible to stakeholders
  • Maintain deal pipeline tracking, target research, and ongoing market intelligence to keep the corporate development team ahead of opportunities

Impact

  • Help shape Synopsys' product portfolio by identifying and closing acquisitions that fill strategic gaps and accelerate growth
  • Your financial models and business cases will inform decisions made by the executive team and board of directors
  • Accelerate deal timelines by keeping cross-functional teams aligned and moving through diligence and negotiation without unnecessary delays
  • Ensure acquired companies integrate successfully by tracking value realization and surfacing risks early
  • Build institutional knowledge around target markets and emerging technologies that inform long-term corporate strategy
  • Create visibility into the M&A pipeline that helps leadership prioritize where to invest time and capital
  • Establish relationships with senior leaders across the company that position you for long-term growth in corporate development or strategy

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in investment banking, consulting, or corporate development with exposure to M&A deal processes
  • Strong financial modeling skills and the ability to build business cases that hold up under scrutiny
  • Experience supporting deal execution, including due diligence coordination, valuation analysis, or transaction support
  • An MBA or equivalent analytical training that prepared you to work with ambiguous problems and senior stakeholders
  • Comfort working in Excel, PowerPoint, and financial analysis tools to build models and communicate recommendations clearly
  • Experience in technology, semiconductor, or software sectors is a plus but not required

Qualities

  • You can build a credible financial model in a day and explain the key assumptions to a CFO in two minutes without losing the thread
  • You do not wait for someone to tell you what to do next. You see a gap in the diligence checklist or the integration plan and you fill it
  • You are comfortable being the least senior person in the room and still asking the question that changes the direction of the conversation
  • You treat every deal like it matters because you know that one acquisition can shift the trajectory of a business unit or the entire company
  • You are organized enough to manage five workstreams at once and still know exactly where each deal stands without checking your notes
  • You want to grow into a corporate development or strategy leadership role and you are willing to put in the work to get there

The Team

You will report into the Corporate Development organization and work closely with the strategy function. This team is responsible for sourcing, executing, and integrating acquisitions that drive growth and fill product portfolio gaps across Synopsys. You will partner with senior leaders across business units, finance, legal, and operations. The team is small, which means high visibility and direct exposure to executive decision making. Integration efforts are led by a separate leader, but you will stay connected to ensure deal value is realized post-close.

Benefits

We offer a comprehensive range of health, wellness, and financial benefits to cater to your needs. Our total rewards include both monetary and non-monetary offerings.
