About the role
The Business Development Representative is responsible for driving new customer acquisition and pipeline growth within an assigned geographic territory. This role is a pure hunting position focused on identifying, prospecting, and securing new small accounts business opportunities across all channels.
Responsibilities
- Own and execute a territory-specific prospecting strategy to generate qualified new small account business opportunities.
- Meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual new business development targets.
- Conduct high-volume outreach (calls, email, social, in-person visits) to engage prospective customers.
- Schedule and lead introductory meetings to uncover customer needs and position solutions.
- Build and manage a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities within the CRM system.
- Partner with senior sales team members to support proposal development, pricing, and contract negotiations.
- Deliver compelling presentations and product/service overviews tailored to prospective clients.
- Attend industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities to expand prospect base.
- Maintain accurate records of prospecting activity, pipeline status, and sales forecasts in CRM.
- Gather market and competitive insights to inform outreach strategy and messaging.
- Ensure smooth handoff of new accounts to account management or senior sales partners post-close.
Requirements
- 2–4 years of experience in sales, business development, or lead generation roles (B2B preferred).
- Demonstrated success in prospecting and new business generation (hunter mentality required).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and influence prospects.
- Comfortable with high activity levels and outbound sales metrics (calls, meetings, pipeline targets).
- Ability to quickly learn product/service offerings and articulate value propositions.
- Basic negotiation exposure; able to support contract discussions with guidance.
- Highly organized with strong time management and prioritization skills.
- Proficient in CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Resilient, self-motivated, and goal-oriented with a competitive drive.
- Willingness to travel within assigned territory for in-person meetings and events.
