About the role

The Business Development Representative is responsible for driving new customer acquisition and pipeline growth within an assigned geographic territory. This role is a pure hunting position focused on identifying, prospecting, and securing new small accounts business opportunities across all channels.

Responsibilities

  • Own and execute a territory-specific prospecting strategy to generate qualified new small account business opportunities.
  • Meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual new business development targets.
  • Conduct high-volume outreach (calls, email, social, in-person visits) to engage prospective customers.
  • Schedule and lead introductory meetings to uncover customer needs and position solutions.
  • Build and manage a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities within the CRM system.
  • Partner with senior sales team members to support proposal development, pricing, and contract negotiations.
  • Deliver compelling presentations and product/service overviews tailored to prospective clients.
  • Attend industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities to expand prospect base.
  • Maintain accurate records of prospecting activity, pipeline status, and sales forecasts in CRM.
  • Gather market and competitive insights to inform outreach strategy and messaging.
  • Ensure smooth handoff of new accounts to account management or senior sales partners post-close.

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of experience in sales, business development, or lead generation roles (B2B preferred).
  • Demonstrated success in prospecting and new business generation (hunter mentality required).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and influence prospects.
  • Comfortable with high activity levels and outbound sales metrics (calls, meetings, pipeline targets).
  • Ability to quickly learn product/service offerings and articulate value propositions.
  • Basic negotiation exposure; able to support contract discussions with guidance.
  • Highly organized with strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • Proficient in CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Resilient, self-motivated, and goal-oriented with a competitive drive.
  • Willingness to travel within assigned territory for in-person meetings and events.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
