About the role

Blackbird is seeking a Business Development Representative (BDR) to identify, prospect, and qualify the best local restaurants for the Blackbird platform. This role involves sourcing leads, conducting outreach, and building relationships to meet quarterly and yearly new restaurant acquisition goals.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and source qualified leads to bring the best restaurants onto the Blackbird platform.
  • Complete at least 100 high-quality outreach activities daily, including cold calls, emails, social touches, and door knocks.
  • Host qualification calls to understand each prospect's needs and determine partnership benefits.
  • Schedule meetings for qualified prospects, ensuring a seamless handoff to Account Executives.
  • Build and maintain a self-sourced pipeline alongside assigned leads.
  • Develop deep knowledge of the NYC restaurant scene and prospect with relevance and credibility.
  • Collaborate closely with Account Executives on handoff quality and feedback loops.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of experience in a BDR, SDR, or similar outbound sales role.
  • Demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding sales quotas and activity targets.
  • A high-activity mindset, comfortable making 100+ touches per day.
  • Resilience and grit to thrive in a high-volume environment.
  • Coachability and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage high daily activity.
  • An ambition to grow into a full-cycle Account Executive role.

  • Experience with field sales or in-person prospecting.
  • A genuine connection to the NYC restaurant or hospitality scene.
  • Experience selling a disruptive or category-defining product.
