Business Development Officer, Bank Partnerships
St. Louis metro (Metro East preferred). Full‑time, field‑based role.
About the role
Community banks refer their business customers to us for payment processing and receivables. You own a set of those bank relationships — keeping the bankers referring, closing what they send, and hunting new clients of your own. The split is roughly two‑thirds relationship manager, one‑third hunter.
Mornings are spent in branches with business lenders, branch managers, treasury officers, and business bankers, teaching them what to listen for and earning the next referral. Afternoons are with the business owners they introduce, running real discovery and closing merchants who stay. This is a proven‑producer seat: you bring a track record of selling through bankers or referral partners; we bring the banks, the product, a pay plan built to reward exactly that work, and a leadership team that will know your name on day one.
Responsibilities
- Own a territory of community bank and credit union locations. Visit every assigned branch in person, on a cadence, and be welcome back.
- Train bankers to spot a referral and make the introduction warm.
- Run discovery with referred business owners: their day, their receivables, their software.
- Close merchants that will last. Walk away from the ones that will not.
- Hunt brand‑new relationships of your own and introduce them to our bank partners.
- Keep the CRM current. Weekly written pipeline review with your manager.
Requirements
- You have sold through a channel. Payments through banks is ideal; treasury management, SBA lending, bank‑owned merchant services, or insurance through bank partners also qualify. You can name the bankers who referred you business.
- You own a number and know the math: referrals in, accounts live, revenue retained.
- You are comfortable in a branch at 8 a.m. with a branch manager, at 2 p.m. with an entrepreneur, and at 5 p.m. networking with corporate executives.
- You have been paid on residuals or recurring revenue and understand why that matters.
- You manage yourself. You write clearly, because bankers forward your emails.
- You live in the metro area, or plan to very soon. Bankers meet reps who show up.
- You are comfortable with technology and use AI tools in your own work.
Compensation
- Base salary: $70,000.
- Activation Bonus: 5% of first‑year net revenue on every merchant you board, paid the month after it goes live.
- Hunting Bonus: an additional 10% on every merchant you brought in yourself.
- Residual Share: 15% to 25% of net residual on every merchant you board, monthly, for 13 months. Never drops below 15%.
- No eligibility gate. Four activations a month ≈ $120,000; five ≈ $140,000; six ≈ $155,000. No cap on earnings.
- On‑target earnings: $120,000–$140,000+.
Benefits
- Matching 401(k)
- Generous paid time off
- Health benefits
- Phone and car reimbursement
Schedule & travel
