Business Development Manager–Architecture and Engineering (East)
Position Summary
We are seeking a high-energy, relationship-driven Business Development Manager to develop our Retail, Restaurant, and Hospitality Architecture & Engineering practice across the East Coast.
Key Responsibilities
Identify, pursue, and develop new Retail, Restaurant, and Hospitality clients, including national brands, franchise groups, developers, and owners
Conduct market research to identify, qualify, and track targeted opportunities aligned with corporate strategy
Stay informed on industry, market, and competitor trends to identify potential opportunities
Present the firm as a trusted partner for prototypes, rollouts, renovations, and expansions
Attend industry events, brand meetings, and client visits to generate and qualify leads
Lead RFP/RFQ responses for Retail, Restaurant, and Hospitality projects
Write and coordinate proposals, qualifications, and interview presentations
Collaborate with architecture, engineering, and operations teams to develop pursuit strategies
Align scope, schedule, and fee strategies with client expectations and rollout timelines
Support the development of repeat-client, multi-site programs
Aid in transitioning awarded work to project teams while maintaining client continuity
Travel & Energy Expectations
Frequent travel required (30%) to client offices and industry events
Must be comfortable with rapid turnaround pursuits and multiple active opportunities
High energy, strong follow-up, and a proactive mindset are essential
Qualifications
5+ years of business development experience in Architecture, Engineering, Construction, or related professional services
Direct experience in Retail, Restaurant, and/or Hospitality markets is a plus
Demonstrated success generating leads and securing client work
Strong presentation, and communication skills
Willingness to travel across the East Coast
Highly organized, self-motivated, and results-oriented
PREFERRED
Existing relationships with retailers, restaurant brands, hospitality groups, franchise operators, or developers
Familiarity with CRM systems and pursuit tracking
