About the role
Join GALLO as a Business Development Manager, On-Premise Wine & Spirits, where you will help bring our brands to life across key accounts and distributor networks. In this role, you will execute sales plans, drive revenue performance, and identify the biggest market opportunities to grow Gallo products in assigned state(s). You will serve as a trusted brand representative with on-premise accounts and distributor partners, using market insights, pricing strategy, forecasting, and business planning to influence results. You will collaborate with distributor leadership, sales teams, and internal partners to activate programs, support new product launches, and strengthen execution in the field.
This role is ideal for a strategic, relationship-driven sales professional who enjoys making data-informed decisions, developing talent, leading through influence, and engaging customers through experiences, tastings, events, and brand storytelling.
Responsibilities
- Execute sales plans and drive revenue performance in assigned state(s).
- Identify market opportunities to grow Gallo products.
- Serve as a brand representative with on-premise accounts and distributor partners.
- Use market insights, pricing strategy, forecasting, and business planning to influence results.
- Collaborate with distributor leadership, sales teams, and internal partners to activate programs and support new product launches.
- Strengthen field execution through relationship-building and strategic initiatives.
- Travel by air and automobile up to 50% during the course of business.
- Employ an alternative work schedule to include weekends and evenings.
- Lift and move product weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Obtain a liquor license as required by state/locally.
- Travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events up to 5% of the time.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of Gallo Winery sales, marketing, or affiliated or non-affiliated distributor sales experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR
- Bachelor’s degree plus 6 years of wine or spirits sales, marketing, restaurant/hospitality, or distributor experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR
- High School diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 8 years of Gallo Winery sales, marketing, or distributor sales experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR
- High School diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 10 years of wine or spirits sales, marketing, restaurant/hospitality, or distributor experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
- Valid driver’s license, a safe driving record, and reliable vehicle at the time of hire.
- Must pass a motor vehicle record (MVR) check confirming a history of safe and responsible driving.
- Must obtain the appropriate state driver’s license based on the position’s location within 30 days of hire, if needed.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
How You'll Stand Out
- Bachelor's degree plus 6 years of Gallo winery or distributor sales experience to include a prior rotation as a Portfolio Consultant, Business Development Manager, Market Development Manager Sr, or Account Manager 2; OR
- Bachelor's degree plus 7 years of external alcohol sales experience to include spirit sales experience.
- Direct managerial/supervisory experience with sales, retail, or on-premise employees (e.g., District Manager, Area Manager, State Manager, Field Marketing Manager).
- Experience selling or marketing Gallo brands and both on-premise and retail experience.
- Skilled in presenting ideas effectively, adapting presentation strategies to audience needs, taking prompt action to accomplish objectives, and setting high standards of performance.
- Experience building positive customer relationships.
- Holding CSS, CSE, CEFS, CSSC, or equivalent certification, or being in process within 6 months.
