About the role
The Business Development Manager will provide business development support to the firm’s Privacy + Cyber Practice Group. The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking marketing professional who leverages AI-powered tools, AI integrations, and agentic AI solutions to capture market growth, deliver measurable ROI, build a culture of attorney participation in marketing, and develop the next generation of collaborative business developers through training and emerging technology.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Design, execute, and measure integrated marketing campaigns — digital, events, thought leadership, and social media — tied to measurable ROI and practice group growth objectives.
- Serves as project manager and liaison between practice group lawyers, the firm’s innovation team, marketing representatives, data analytics, and website and IT personnel to plan, coordinate, implement, and maintain traditional and interactive marketing initiatives and service offerings.
- Collaborate with innovation attorneys and technology teams to develop AI-native applications and agentic AI tools that automate BD workflows, monitor market and regulatory developments, surface cross-selling opportunities, and accelerate the practice group’s speed-to-market.
- Build and maintain ROI tracking frameworks and dashboards that demonstrate the tangible impact of BD investments and campaign activity to practice group leadership.
- Design and deliver structured BD and marketing training programs for attorneys at all levels, with a particular emphasis on associates, covering practice group visibility, client development, and the integration of emerging AI technologies, including by partnering with the firm's innovation attorneys to pilot AI tools relevant to competitive positioning and client development in the privacy and cyber space.
- Champion attorney engagement in marketing initiatives, fostering cross-practice collaboration and a shared sense of ownership over BD goals.
- Collaborate with the Director of Business Development and practice group leadership to develop annual business plans, budgets, and systems to track progress on practice group priorities.
- Conduct client, prospect, industry, and competitor analysis to inform targeted BD efforts.
- Identify and execute cross-selling opportunities and collaborate with the communications team to promote practice group successes through media, publishing, and speaking opportunities.
- Develop and implement strategies to cultivate business with current and prospective clients, including crafting tailored pitch materials and responses to RFPs.
- Oversee directory and award submissions, coordinate events and sponsorships, and collect matter data for the firm’s experience database.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Demonstrated experience designing and executing integrated marketing campaigns with measurable ROI outcomes.
- Proficiency with AI tools with the ability to collaborate with technologists and innovation attorneys, articulate use cases, and drive attorney adoption.
- Experience building ROI tracking models and performance dashboards connecting BD and marketing activity to revenue and pipeline growth.
- Proven ability to design and deliver BD and marketing training programs for attorneys, with a focus on associates and emerging technology adoption.
- Comfort working alongside innovation attorneys and legal technology professionals to evaluate, implement, and translate new tools into practical guidance for attorneys.
- Proven ability to engage and motivate attorneys to participate in BD and marketing initiatives, including cross-practice collaboration and team profile-raising.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; strong project management, analytical, and relationship-building capabilities.
- Sound business judgment, adaptability to a rapidly evolving AI landscape, and ability to perform well under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
Education And/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or any combination of training, education, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Minimum five (5) years of marketing experience in a law firm setting.
- Hands-on experience with AI-powered tools, AI-native applications, or agentic AI platforms in a BD or marketing context is strongly preferred.
- Experience building ROI tracking frameworks or performance reporting systems for marketing or BD programs is strongly preferred.
- Experience designing or delivering attorney training programs, particularly for associates, on BD, marketing, or technology adoption is strongly preferred.
- Experience working with a privacy and cyber practice is highly beneficial.
- Experience managing a direct report.
Pay
Hiring Salary Range $135,000.00 - $180,000.00
