Business Development Manager
About the Role
We're looking for a strategic, relationship-driven Business Development Manager to identify new opportunities, expand key markets, and drive sustainable sales growth for TDK-Lambda. In this role, you'll develop and execute growth strategies across targeted accounts, markets, and product segments. You'll build relationships with key decision makers, uncover new business opportunities, and work closely with Sales, Engineering, Product Marketing, Sales Representatives, and Distribution Partners to turn customer and market insights into long-term business growth.
Responsibilities
- Identify and develop new business opportunities within targeted accounts, markets, and product segments.
- Build and execute strategic business development plans aligned with company growth objectives.
- Develop strong relationships with customer decision makers, including engineering, procurement, and executive leadership.
- Identify opportunities to expand TDK-Lambda's presence within existing strategic accounts.
- Analyze customer needs, industry trends, market dynamics, and competitive activity to uncover growth opportunities.
- Translate market insights into actionable sales strategies and value-based customer solutions.
- Collaborate with Product Marketing, Field Application Engineers, Inside Sales, Sales Management, Sales Representatives, and Distribution Partners.
- Coordinate with customer headquarters, commodity teams, and local decision makers to advance opportunities.
- Serve as a customer advocate internally and ensure customer requirements are effectively communicated across the organization.
- Provide customer and market feedback to help influence product roadmaps, pricing strategies, and go-to-market initiatives.
- Support commercial negotiations and the development of customer agreements.
- Represent TDK-Lambda at customer meetings, industry events, and trade shows.
- Monitor business development activity and expenditures in alignment with established budgets and goals.
- Travel to customer, distributor, and field locations as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Experience in business development, technical sales, account management, or a related customer-facing role.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to understand customer needs, market dynamics, and competitive positioning.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong customer relationships.
- Strong negotiation, presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to analyze sales and market information and translate insights into actionable business strategies.
- Strong problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Ability to interpret business metrics, including percentages, ratios, gross profit, and sales data.
- Ability and willingness to travel as business needs require.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Business, or a related discipline.
- Experience in electronics, power supplies, power conversion, industrial technology, or another technical B2B environment.
- Experience developing strategic, key, or global accounts.
- Experience working through manufacturers' representatives or distribution channels.
- Experience building relationships with executive-level customer stakeholders.
- Experience partnering with engineering or Field Application Engineering teams in a technical sales environment.
