Business Development Manager
About the role
The Business Development Manager will support the ICON brand, focusing on sales, field support, and technical assistance for VFDs and motor control products. This role requires expertise in Variable Frequency Drive and Soft-Start technologies, as well as experience in Medium Voltage VFDs and soft starts.
Responsibilities
- Reading engineering specifications and providing take-offs
- Generating sales quotes and proposals for VFD and Motor Control solutions
- Building customer relationships and identifying cost-saving opportunities
- Negotiating with vendors regarding specified equipment areas
- Providing exceptional customer service and communication
- Preparing cost estimates and generating proposals
- Forming industry partnerships to meet sales objectives
- Providing technical training and support to customers and consulting engineers
- Understanding bid specifications, plans, and reading electronic drawings/specifications
- Having a strong customer service focus with clear and frequent communication
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred) or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience
- Expertise in Variable Frequency Drive technology, including commissioning, application, and troubleshooting support
- Expertise in Soft-Start technology, including commissioning, application, and troubleshooting support
- Experience in Medium Voltage VFDs and soft starts is a plus
- Ability to form industry partnerships to meet sales objectives
- Ability to provide technical training and support to customers and consulting engineers
- Understanding of bid specifications, plans, and ability to read electronic drawings/specifications
- Excellent customer service focus with clear and frequent communication
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Knowledge of PLC programming and SCADA (plus)

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Ability to travel less than 10% overnight

Schedule
Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Position will be home based, but you must live in the Atlanta, GA metro area.
