HOK is seeking a results-driven Business Development Manager to play a key role in advancing our growth strategy and expanding our healthcare and science + technology market presence. In this position, you will develop, lead, and execute business development initiatives that support the studio's strategic objectives and revenue goals. Responsibilities

  • Partner with regional Principals and Market Leaders to deliver business development activities that differentiate HOK from competitors in the eyes of clients and the market.
  • Build a strategic framework for business development across markets and put in place the systems and processes needed to run bidding and BD activities efficiently and on time.
  • Proactively identify creative opportunities to showcase HOK's capabilities, experience, projects, and people to internal and external audiences.
  • Work with Marketing to ensure proposals and submissions reflect HOK's brand while meeting client requirements.
  • Support regional/local implementation of BD, marketing, and communications activities, promoting best practices, staff participation, reporting, and quality control.
  • Support PR, social media, and communications for the Midwest Region, highlighting events, BD activities, and awards.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with technical staff, designers, senior management, legal, HR, and marketing.
  • Maintain client contacts and activity records in the CRM.
  • Maintain an up-to-date pipeline of leads and deadlines with Marketing and Market Leaders.
  • Support market research, business plans, and other pursuits for the Marketing Principal and Market Leaders.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, and vendors to gather information and maintain professional relationships.
  • Keep CRM records of prospects, proposals, and sales current, coordinating regular updates with Market Leaders.
  • Help create marketing collateral, client presentations, credentials, and portfolios.
  • Support edits and reviews of thought-leadership content, boilerplate language, brochures, and campaigns.
  • Plan and manage the annual events calendar and budget.
  • Organize internal and external events (B2Bs), covering budget, venue, catering, dietary needs, seating, signage, collateral, IT, sponsorships, and decor.
  • Manage client invitations, biographies, and special requirements.
  • Design and manage invitation lists and processes.
  • Gather feedback and evaluate events afterward.
  • Manage subscriptions and liaise with member organizations.
  • Handle event invitations and attendance.
  • Pursue sponsorship opportunities and related marketing activities.
  • Source speaking opportunities and organize roundtables and thought-leadership presentations.
  • Manage award submissions and events, internal and external.
  • Coordinate related communications and social media activity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Experience in business development, marketing, and communications within the architecture, engineering, construction, or related professional services industry.
  • Proven track record developing client relationships and winning new business opportunities in the healthcare and science + technology markets.
  • Strong understanding of the pursuit and proposal process, from opportunity identification through project award.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented professional who works effectively both independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience with market research, competitive analysis, and business planning; financial acumen and strong writing/editing skills are a plus.
  • Some travel and overtime may be required.
  • Must follow all safety policies, procedures, and codes of practice.
