Business Development Manager
About the role
We are looking for a highly skilled Business Development Manager to support strategic business development initiatives and cross-functional collaboration across departments. This role represents Discovery Education externally and collaborates frequently with senior leadership and external partners. The ideal candidate thrives in a high-energy, purpose-driven environment and connects strategy across departments to drive revenue and impact. This role may support public-private partnership development across statewide and corporate initiatives, requiring the ability to align corporate engagement with workforce and education priorities, navigate blended funding and co-investment models, and translate market trends and policy insights into effective partner strategies and positioning.
Responsibilities
- Generate revenue opportunities through highly tailored and thoughtful outreach strategies, focusing on generating volume of opportunities for the Corporate Partnerships new bookings team
- Work closely with Sales leads to support Industry coverage
- Target companies with financial potential to partner with Discovery Education's Corporate Partnerships team for Signature, Coalition, Career Connect and underwriting opportunities
- Travel for conferences and meetings that will drive lead generation for the New Bookings pipeline
- Proactively engage with senior leadership to develop cultivation strategies for prospecting
- Coordinate outreach efforts for senior leadership
- Support with meeting coordination and follow up for senior leadership
- Support relationship management of Discovery Education's Strategic Alliance partners
- Lead relationships with Key Strategic Alliance partnerships to activate lead generation opportunities through opportunities such as event series, speaking opps, and other activities
- Collaborate with CEP Growth Marketing to ensure Strategic Alliance partner opportunities are capitalized on
- Collaborate with K12 Sales and Marketing to identify new markets and opportunities for Discovery Education Campaigns team
- Potentially serve as point between Corporate Education Partnerships and K12 departments to coordinate participation from both parties in brand events such as Futures Fair, Career Connect Spotlights, and more
- Research industry news, company giving data, and CSR trends to inform strategy
- Source new partner organizations aligned with Discovery Education's mission

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications or related field
- 3+ years of experience in marketing and business development
- Experience managing strategic partnerships
- Proficiency in Asana or similar project management tools
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to travel up to 50% or as needed by the business
- Legal right to work in the United States
Pay
The hiring range for this position is between $87,850 - $97,600 annually, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. Additionally, this position is eligible for a Variable Target.
