About the Role
Hudson Products, a part of Chart Industries, is seeking a Technical Business Development Manager to sell and promote the Tuf-Lite, Howden, Fin-Fan, and Hudson Service brands for new and aftermarket opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Identify sales opportunities for Hudson and Howden axial flow fans, fan parts, air-cooler parts, service, new air-cooled heat exchangers, and replacement bundles.
- Contact existing and potential customers to generate sales and service opportunities.
- Conduct presentations, lunch-and-learns, product demonstrations, and trial installations at refineries, petrochemical plants, LNG plants, gas plants, and power generation facilities.
- Represent Hudson at trade shows and deliver presentations at industry events.
- Advise customers on product fit-up, design, and selection of appropriate products for their applications.
- Collaborate with Hudson personnel to ensure prompt customer service and with the Field Service Manager and technicians on service opportunities.
- Quote customers and direct prospects to appropriate departments for quoting and orders.
- Develop an understanding of customers’ needs by studying company operations and interactions to determine value-added products and services.
- Maintain and track quotations and sales opportunities in CRM.
- Monitor competitive activity and market trends within the territory.
- Provide input for forecasting anticipated market sales.
- Prepare weekly contact reports on sales activities.
- Prioritize accounts based on sales potential and maintenance needs.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of product features, benefits, and use.
- Establish and maintain a comprehensive customer database for the territory.
- Train and mentor customers on the use and maintenance of company products.
- Assist customers with air flow testing and visual inspections to recommend upgrades.
- Demonstrate product use to customers and potential customers.
- Investigate complaints and recommend or perform adjustments on products or equipment.
- Build and promote strong, long-lasting customer relationships by understanding their needs.
- Consult with customers on proper product use and maintenance.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned periodically.
Physical Requirements
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and sit for up to eight hours per day.
- Use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, and controls.
- Reach with hands and arms.
- Hearing and speaking sufficient to communicate with vendors, employees, and managers.
- Vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Frequent lifting of 20 to 40 lbs.; occasional independent and safe lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Pass annual visual examination (Quality Control).
- Independent mobility throughout the plant.
- Work outside for extended periods in heat or cold.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Aeronautical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering (Required).
- Master’s Degree (Preferred).
- 5-7 years of sales engineering experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Spanish fluency (speaking, writing, and reading) is preferred.
- Ability to communicate and interact professionally with customers and internal personnel.
- Work independently and follow directions accurately.
- Work safely around equipment, tools, parts, machinery, and materials.
- Travel domestically and internationally up to 50%+ per year. For the first 2-3 years, travel will primarily be within the United States and Canada, focusing on the Gulf Coast, Midwest, and West Coast.
