Business Development Manager - Asset Based Lending
About the role
The CIBC US Asset-Based Lending is seeking a Business Development Manager (BDM) to identify, develop, and assist in closing of high-quality, asset-based lending transactions. This position will further develop CIBC’s presence by working in tandem with our current CIBC product offerings such as commercial banking, capital markets, wealth management, and commercial real estate.
Responsibilities
- Prospecting new ABL clients
- Assist in structuring new deals to bridge client expectations and bank requirements
- Participate in initial Fit Assessment discussions with deals
- Collaborate with Portfolio Managers as part of a team to ensure delivery of top-notch client service
- Provide guidance during credit events for new strategic relationships, including collaboration with Portfolio Managers during analysis and deal approval as needed
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of ABL experience
- Minimum 5 years of successful experience as a business development officer for a Commercial or ABL lender with focused efforts on quality centers of influence
- In-depth understanding of the asset-based lending industry, market structures, and competition (bank/non-bank)
- Deep referral source network with track record of consistent calling efforts
- Basic Microsoft Office skills with additional knowledge of online prospecting tools (i.e. RelPro, Salesforce, Pitchbook, Loan Connector, etc.)
- Self-starter and ability to work out of home (office space where applicable)
- Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills
- Bachelor's degree or higher

This role has an expected salary range of $200,000.00 - $240,000 for the market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
