About the role
This role offers a unique opportunity to drive strategic growth across federal, state, and local government markets, focusing on non-traditional contracting pathways such as CSOs, BAAs, SBIR/STTR programs, OTAs, and grants. The consultant will act as a key connector between government stakeholders and internal teams, shaping business development strategy and identifying high-value opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Support business growth efforts across government markets by identifying, qualifying, and tracking opportunities within non-traditional contracting channels such as CSOs, BAAs, SBIR/STTR programs, grants, and OTAs.
- Monitor federal and state procurement platforms and funding sources to surface relevant opportunities and inform go/no-go decisions.
- Contribute to shaping capture strategies aligned with agency missions and funding priorities.
- Identify, track, and qualify government business opportunities across federal, state, and local markets.
- Monitor platforms such as SAM.gov, grants.gov, SBIR.gov, and related agency portals.
- Support development of BD strategies aligned with agency missions and funding cycles.
- Engage directly with government stakeholders including program managers and contracting officers.
- Represent the organization at industry events, agency meetings, and outreach sessions.
- Maintain CRM systems with accurate pipeline data, contacts, and opportunity status.
- Provide market intelligence and competitive insights to guide pursuit strategy.
- Collaborate with internal teams to align BD efforts with delivery and capture activities.
Requirements
- Strong experience in government business development, particularly within non-traditional acquisition pathways and innovation-focused programs.
- Comfortable engaging senior government stakeholders and navigating complex procurement environments.
- Combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution, and highly self-directed in managing multiple opportunities simultaneously.
- Experience in business development or capture within federal, state, or local government markets.
- Strong knowledge of non-traditional contracting mechanisms (CSOs, BAAs, SBIR/STTR, OTAs, grants).
- Familiarity with platforms such as SAM.gov, grants.gov, and SBIR.gov.
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with government stakeholders.
- Understanding of government procurement cycles, funding structures, and agency priorities.
- Strong communication, networking, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to manage multiple BD pipelines and priorities in a remote environment.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams to support opportunity development.
- Preferred experience with DoD, DHS, IC, or civilian agency ecosystems.
- Existing government relationships or exposure to innovation offices is highly valued.
