About the role
Polsinelli's Marketing & Business Development Department is seeking a strategic, business-minded, and collaborative Business Development & Marketing Manager to support the firm's market-leading transactional practices, including Private Equity, Mergers & Acquisitions, Venture Capital, and related Corporate practices.
Responsibilities
- Advise Practice Group Leaders and Shareholders on growth opportunities, market positioning, competitive differentiation, and client development strategies, both independently and in partnership with the Senior Department Marketing Manager.
- Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships through cross-selling and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Support Shareholders in the development of individual business development plans.
- Support strategic planning initiatives and practice retreats.
- Facilitate strategic discussions with Practice Group Leaders to ensure investments are in support of and aligned with practice priorities.
- Lead RFP and pitch response strategy and creation of materials, including drafting targeted materials for tailored responses.
- Maintain proposal tracking database.
- Monitor and analyze legal and business market trends impacting Private Equity, M&A, Venture Capital, Capital Markets, and Corporate clients, translating insights into opportunities.
- Analyze competitor activity, league tables, market share, deal trends, and lateral movements to assess our market position and that of our competition.
- Ensure practice-specific marketing and external content is compelling, accurate, and kept up to date (practice group pages, attorney bios, pitch and proposal materials).
- Lead the development, execution, and follow-up of practice-focused internal and client-facing events, with support from the firm-wide events team (including supporting the development of event proposals and budgets, logistics, targeted list development, invitations, and client communications, etc.).
- Assist with practice-specific sponsorships, including identifying client engagement opportunities and supporting targeted follow-up opportunities.
- Collaborate with the firm’s PR team to advance profile-raising efforts within the market.
- Support the strategy and execution of internal and external communications.
- Lead strategic pursuit of external survey, directory, award, and ranking submissions.
- Oversee the collection and organization of representative matters, deal experience, and credentials supporting transactional practices, using the firm’s Foundation database.
- Monitor the use and updating of client contacts/client team activity information within the InterAction software system.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 7-10 years or more of relevant work experience in legal (Am Law preferred) or other professional services industry.
- Legal marketing experience supporting Private Equity, M&A, Venture Capital, Securities, or Corporate transactional practices strongly preferred.
- Experience developing and implementing practice-level business development strategies that support revenue growth.
- Exceptional executive presence and the ability to partner successfully with senior stakeholders.
- Strong financial and business acumen with the ability to interpret market, competitive, and client data.
- Proven leadership managing and collaborating on high-impact initiatives across multiple stakeholder groups.
- Highly organized, analytical, and results-oriented professional with excellent project management and problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and a collaborative, client-service-focused approach, demonstrating accountability, adaptability, innovation, and commitment to operational excellence.

Pay
The budgeted salary range for this position is $125,000 - $200,000.
