About the Role
The Business Data Analyst (BDA) is responsible for maintaining and validating customer attributes used in the customer setup process. The BDA ensures the accuracy and integrity of customer and prospect historical data in our internal systems. This role involves coordinating the retrieval, verification, and uploading of usage data from various sources, as well as identifying and resolving inconsistencies.
Responsibilities
- Reviews all historical prospect usage data, interprets the data, and questions inconsistencies with the historical usage.
- Troubleshoots EDI issues and any issues related to prospect usage data.
- Retrieves historical usage from utility websites and reviews invoice copies for historical usage where applicable.
- Ensures prospect historical usage (from all sources) is uploaded accurately to system(s) and is flowing correctly once uploaded.
- Mitigates potential financial risks by proactively identifying and addressing any data inconsistencies or gaps.
- Identifies and elevates forecasting inconsistencies as needed to ensure accurate pricing.
- Works with the utility directly when retrieving or questioning data as needed.
- Assists with ad hoc requests for process improvements, such as cleanup projects, new hire training, development of process efficiencies, and system testing.
- Identifies and documents new processes, making recommendations to leadership for improvement.
- Travel required as necessary to meet business needs.
- In-person attendance for training, all-hands meetings, and other meaningful engagements.
Requirements
Business Data Analyst I
- Bachelor’s degree, or 2 years of equivalent experience in lieu of the degree.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills; demonstrated effectiveness in collaboration and building rapport with employees and customers across various levels of the organization.
- Strong relationship-building skills, capable of establishing and maintaining partnerships both internally and externally with customers and channel partners.
- Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, managing multiple priorities effectively.
- Commitment to maintaining the highest level of confidentiality for all information handled.
Business Data Analyst II
- Bachelor's degree and minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
- A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in lieu of a 4-year degree.
- Proven track record of strong analytical skills, attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and independent decision-making.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills; demonstrated effectiveness in collaboration and building rapport with employees and customers across various levels of the organization.
- Strong relationship-building skills, capable of establishing and maintaining partnerships both internally and externally with customers and channel partners.
- Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, managing multiple priorities effectively.

Business Data Analyst Sr
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience, or 9 years of equivalent experience in lieu of the degree.
- Elevated knowledge in Excel (creating and using pivot tables, macros, and vlookups) and MS Office Suite experience.
- Reporting and dashboard knowledge in Salesforce.
- Proven track record of strong analytical skills, attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and independent decision-making.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills; demonstrated effectiveness in collaboration and building rapport with employees and customers across various levels of the organization.
- Strong relationship-building skills, capable of establishing and maintaining partnerships both internally and externally with customers and channel partners.
- Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, managing multiple priorities effectively.
- Commitment to maintaining the highest level of confidentiality for all information handled.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of SQL, Python, Power BI, Excel macros, and C++ is advantageous.
- Previous experience in the energy industry.
Pay
- Business Data Analyst I: $60,350 - $71,000 per year
- Business Data Analyst II: $69,700 - $82,000 per year
- Business Data Analyst Sr: $90,100 - $106,000 per year
Ranges are based on experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401K.
