Business Banking Regional Manager - Portsmouth, NH

M&T Bank is seeking a seasoned leader to manage small business banking relationships across a large geographic region.

About the role

This position oversees all business banking lending activities, ensuring appointments are set, business goals are met or exceeded, and risk is minimized. You will interact with retail branches to promote small business relationships, attend branch manager and retail meetings, and direct contests that drive business growth.

Responsibilities

• Review and recommend strategic goals and plans for the region’s business banking lending.
• Mentor lenders in the business banking lending process and the philosophy behind the M&T business banking model.
• Exercise managerial authority over staffing, hiring, termination, performance management, and salary recommendations.
• Cultivate and promote business banking relationships by interacting with branch management.
• Stay current with customer demand for competitive business banking products and investment methods.
• Manage all business banking sales activities within a designated region.
• Attend functions outside of normal working hours as required.
• Travel substantially within the region.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance—or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum ten to twelve years of commercial lending experience.
• Seven to ten years in a managerial capacity.
• Knowledge of software utilized within the department.
• Self-motivated, well-organized individual with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to interact professionally with all levels of bank personnel, clients, and potential customers.
• Thorough knowledge of the bank’s policies, products, and services.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $206,400 – $344,000 annual (USD). The successful candidate’s compensation will be informed by their specific combination of knowledge, skills, and experience.
