About the role

As a Business Banker, you set the tone for each client experience as the first point of contact for our customers. You’ll adapt to customer needs, complete service transactions, open accounts, and refer customers to other bank employees for additional support when needed. This role focuses on providing exceptional customer service, building relationships, and working as part of a team to help customers succeed financially.

Responsibilities

  • Process teller transactions, consumer, and commercial new accounts, and make appropriate introductions to loan officers.
  • Complete operational activities while minimizing risks under established policies.
  • Perform routine transactional, operational, and customer support tasks efficiently through knowledge of bank procedures, products, and partners.
  • Receive direction from managers and exercise judgment within defined policies and procedures.
  • Escalate questions and issues to more professional roles.
  • Interact with customers to demonstrate care, build relationships, and complete requested transactions.
  • Identify information and services to meet customers' financial needs.
  • Educate and connect customers to technology, including mobile banking options.
  • Interact with integrity and professionalism with customers and team members.
  • Handle cash accurately and follow policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Identify potential fraud/risky accounts and take appropriate action to prevent loss.
  • Stay well-organized, independent, and able to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exercise judgment, raise questions to management, and adhere to policy guidelines.
  • Proactively source, acquire, build, and maintain relationships with customers and colleagues.
  • Evaluate needs of potential clients and offer appropriate financial products and services.
  • Utilize knowledge of required paperwork and systems to open new accounts accurately.
  • Assist customers with accessing their safe deposit box.
  • Process and sort incoming mail, night depository, and mail transactions.
  • Follow all opening and closing procedures for banking centers.
  • Support banking center referral efforts, including goals for debit cards, direct deposit, online banking, and referrals for product and treasury management services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of Word and Excel; ability to type and use a ten-key.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle transactions accurately and quickly.
  • Strong math aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours when requested and Saturdays.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and sit/stand for long periods of time.
