About the role

This position is responsible for proactively growing and deepening relationships with both existing and new small business clients. These clients are typically companies with up to $2 million in annual revenues. The role involves presenting product and service solutions that meet the client’s needs and financial goals, including consumer and small business products such as deposits, treasury, and credit solutions, as well as referring related banking products and services.

The position also includes community outreach through business visits, outbound calls to clients, and conducting educational seminars.

Responsibilities

  • Follow the sales management process to maintain a regular calling program for clients and prospects, generating high-quality new deposits and loan business.
  • Meet with existing clients and prospects to discuss business needs and recommend banking solutions for their financial goals.
  • Assist in planning portfolio growth through a business plan aligned with departmental budget and bank asset/liability management objectives.
  • Coordinate with internal business partners to ensure client needs and financial goals are met.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of competitors’ products and pricing in the market.
  • Review deposit profitability analysis and develop strategies to restore unprofitable accounts to profitability.
  • Work with borrowing clients to procure updated financial information on an ongoing basis.
  • Communicate lending decisions to clients.
  • Follow up on loan exceptions to ensure timely clearing while controlling exception volume.
  • Serve as a representative in civic and community functions to enhance the bank’s image and develop additional business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, or equivalent years of experience.
  • 4-6 years of experience as a Business Banker.
  • Proven ability to meet sales goals, including credit products and internal business partner referrals.
  • Skilled in proactively sourcing, acquiring, building, and maintaining relationships with clients and co-workers.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Significant experience in a role as a business advocate.
  • Advanced knowledge of retail and/or small business products and strategies.
  • Advanced understanding of banking products and services.
  • Significant experience sourcing small business clientele.
  • Demonstrated understanding of complex financial accounting and analysis.
  • Experience leading or participating in events for local networks or professional organizations (e.g., chamber of commerce, business groups, or national organizations like United Way).
