About the role

We are partnering with a law firm that provides tailored solutions for mission-driven online entrepreneurs as they build sustainable, impactful businesses and create success on their own terms. They’re looking for an experienced attorney to work directly with their clients—providing legal strategy and advice, reviewing and drafting documents, setting up complex entity structures, helping buy or sell businesses, and standing up to opposing counsel when there’s a dispute. The firm is fully remote, so you should be able to work efficiently, drilling down to key information, and communicating clearly with the team and clients. The work is fun, fast-moving, and challenging. No two days are alike.

Their perfect candidate is tech-savvy, compassionate, knowledgeable, an excellent communicator, detail-oriented, and organized. You have experience managing client projects and calls on your own. While you’re not afraid to ask for input or resources when you need them, you’re comfortable running point without seeking approval for every decision along the way. You’ll be joining a team of A-players who take pride in delivering high-quality work. They also believe your best work happens when you have a full life outside of it. There will be busy seasons, but when you’re out of office, you’re not expected to be checking in.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a high level of legal strategy and advice to firm clients, focusing on contract review and drafting, corporate and transactional matters, advertising and privacy compliance, employment advice, negotiating disputes, and big-picture counsel.
  • Provide timely, well-researched, and accurate documents, contracts, strategy, and legal advice.
  • Counsel clients via multiple media (primarily email and Zoom video calls), including conducting legal audits to identify areas of potential risk (Legal Road Map® sessions).
  • Represent clients in dispute negotiations (pre-litigation).
  • Keep up-to-date records of client interactions, calls, and projects.
  • Stay abreast of legal changes relevant to clients’ industries and markets.
  • Meet quarterly billable hour requirement (360 billable hours per quarter).

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in corporate/transactional law or as outside general counsel (law firm or in-house).
  • Strong experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of business contracts.
  • Experience advising clients directly and managing client matters solo, with little oversight.
  • Experience handling or advising about business disputes (pre-litigation).
  • Familiarity with business entity formation and corporate structuring (including multi-state considerations).
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to take ownership of your work and proactively problem-solve.
  • Comfortable learning new systems and tech quickly, including Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Dropbox, video conferencing, online project management and communication tools (Zoom, Slack, Asana), and AI tools (Lexis+ AI Protege and Claude).
  • High level of accountability, integrity, and professionalism.
  • Ability to manage and communicate your own schedule, a busy workload, multiple deadlines, and shift priorities as needed in a fast-paced, remote environment without constant oversight.
  • Strong interpersonal skills—gets along with others and works well with the team and clients.
  • Curiosity—you read self-development books, listen to podcasts, or have other hobbies where you’re learning or trying new things in your spare time.
  • Coachability—receive feedback with ease.
  • JD + Bachelor's Degree.
  • Active legal license in any U.S. state.

Workspace Requirements

  • Must reside within the United States (Eastern or Central Time preferred).
  • Have a professional, distraction-free workspace where you can take client and team calls.
  • Able to be on video chat for scheduled meetings in a professionally-dressed manner.
  • Schedule is flexible between the hours of 9 am and 5 pm EST, with regular availability for team and client communications.
  • Strong, reliable internet connection.
  • Prior remote work experience is a plus.

This Role Is Not For You If

  • You're not comfortable adapting to new software and testing AI tools regularly.
  • You want to focus on litigation (we aim to resolve disputes before they get to court).
  • You’re annoyed by SOPs and automated processes—we live and breathe them.
  • You need someone managing your calendar, typing your documents, or reminding you what's due (we have paralegals and other admin support, but you’ll handle your own day-to-day client notes, filing, and organizing your to-do list).
