About the role
The Business Applications Specialist supports, enhances, and optimizes applications with a focus on SQL-based data analysis, system integrations, and vendor-managed platforms. This role collaborates closely with business stakeholder teams and vendors to troubleshoot issues, implement enhancements, and ensure data accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical resource for business applications, including SQL-based applications, data integrations, and data-centric troubleshooting.
- Perform ad-hoc data analysis and complex SQL queries to support business needs.
- Debug, enhance, and optimize existing SQL code written by internal teams or vendors.
- Partner directly with business stakeholders to gather requirements, analyze issues, and deliver enhancements.
- Manage user access and security for vendor systems.
- Respond to SOX audit requests and support quarterly/monthly audit submissions.
- Provide ongoing production support for ConnectWise, Acumatica, and other business applications.
- Support application integrations and data flows.
Requirements
- Strong expertise in SQL, including stored procedures, performance tuning, and complex query development/debugging.
- Proven ability to analyze and debug complex SQL code written by others.
- Experience supporting application integrations and data flows.
- Experience supporting business applications including ConnectWise.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and requirements-gathering skills.
- Experience working directly with business users and technical teams.
- Experience working with external vendors.
- Experience with Acumatica and IT security systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- College Degree or equivalent 6 years related experience.
- Expert technical knowledge.
- Knowledge of industry regulations.
- Ability to lead and coordinate the team activities of others.
- Ability to formulate, document, and recommend new policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of an organization, both internally and externally.
- Demonstrated ability to work in and lead a team.
