Business and Finance Specialist - Siebel School of Computing and Data Science

The Siebel School of Computing and Data Science (SSCDS) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is a globally recognized leader in computing, data science, and interdisciplinary innovation. The Business and Finance Specialist will work under administrative direction to independently coordinate and manage relevant business and financial operations for the school.
Responsibilities
- Oversee financial operations for the school by managing the full lifecycle of a subset of department-level accounts.
- Create, request, and establish accounts in school-specific financial management system.
- Deposit funds into accounts.
- Review and approve iBuy orders, Banner requisitions, P-Card transactions, and employee reimbursements or T-Card transactions in Emburse.
- Coordinate with others to ensure programs are adequately resourced and timely with business office requests.
- Develop and maintain spreadsheets for budget management.
- Support the monthly reconciliation of department-wide accounts.
- Track and approve funding on appointments for Teaching Assistants and Course Assistants.
- Serve as the school’s Charge Card Reviewer in Emburse.
- Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Finance and other relevant staff in closing of the financial books at fiscal year-end.
- Oversee financial management of budgets and expenses of special programs within the unit.
- Support school student groups with their budgets and expenditures.
- Track and approve funding on appointments for Teaching Assistants and Course Assistants.
- Support the school’s travel needs by overseeing and approving expenses on related funds.
- Assume additional appropriate duties to further the mission of the school.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or a related field.
- Two (2) years of professional business, financial, and/or managerial work experience.
- Demonstrated experience at an administrative level in a business setting.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of management principles, practices, methods, and techniques.
- Ability to manage workflows and perform administrative tasks.
- Decision-making ability.
- Ability to work autonomously.
- Ability to work effectively with the staff and public.
Pay
The budgeted salary range for this position is $60,000.00 - $62,000.00. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.
Schedule
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service Business/Administrative Associate position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the closing date.
