Business Analyst / Scrum Master - Insurance

Core Responsibilities

• Elicitation & Documentation: Lead discovery sessions with business SMEs to identify pain points and desired outcomes; translate into epics, user stories, functional/non-functional requirements, and acceptance criteria.
• Process Mapping & Gap Analysis: Document current and future state workflows; identify gaps, risks, and operational impacts across systems and roles.
• Business Value & Success Metrics: Define measurable outcomes (e.g., cycle time reduction, cost savings, error reduction, customer/agent experience improvements) and establish baseline vs. target metrics.
• Stakeholder Management: Facilitate working sessions, requirements reviews, and decision points; maintain alignment across business, product, and technology partners.
• UAT Ownership/Support: Define test scenarios with SMEs, coordinate UAT, triage feedback/defects, and confirm delivery meets acceptance criteria.
• Documentation & Governance: Maintain artifacts such as process flows, requirements traceability, decision logs, and test plans to support compliance/audit needs.
• Ceremony Facilitation: Lead Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives with clear outcomes and timeboxed facilitation.
• Impediment Removal & Escalation: Identify blockers early; drive resolution across dependencies within the larger initiative; escalate with clarity and options.
• Backlog Health & Team Readiness: Ensure stories meet Definition of Ready (DoR); reinforce Definition of Done (DoD) and quality practices with the team.
• Agile Coaching & Team Effectiveness: Coach the team and partners on Scrum principles; foster psychological safety, continuous improvement, and focused delivery.
• Jira Ownership (Must Have): Own Jira hygiene-board configuration, workflows, story templates, prioritization support, dashboards, and reporting.
• Delivery Transparency & Metrics: Track and communicate key indicators (e.g., velocity, burndown/burnup, cycle time, throughput, blocked work) and convert insights into actions.

Requirements

• Advanced Jira experience (Required) supporting Scrum execution (boards, workflows, dashboards, reporting, backlog management).
• Proven ability to perform both Business Analyst and Scrum Master responsibilities in a delivery environment.
• Experience partnering with business stakeholders in Underwriting, Claims, Policy Services, or Insurance Operations (or closely related insurance domains).
• Strong facilitation, writing, and communication skills-able to translate between business intent and delivery-ready work items.
• Strong analytical mindset and "end-to-end" process thinking.

Nice to Have

• Scrum certifications (CSM / PSM) preferred but not required.
• Confluence (or similar) documentation experience.
• Interest/aptitude to learn and support automation/AI-enabled process improvements (no prior AI experience required).
