Essential Duties
- Independently gather, analyze, and document moderately complex business, functional, and non-functional requirements for client implementation projects.
- Contribute to backlog refinement and sprint planning by creating well-defined user stories, acceptance criteria, requirement updates, and documenting open questions using ADO, JIRA, or similar tools.
- Partner with Development, QA, and other cross-functional teams to ensure requirements are clearly understood and successfully delivered.
- Perform data analysis and structured root cause analysis to identify operational inefficiencies, workflow improvements, recurring issues, and process optimization opportunities.
- Create clear documentation, business process workflows, and analysis deliverables that effectively communicate with both technical and business audiences.
- Participate in solution walkthroughs and validation sessions to ensure proposed solutions align with documented requirements, business processes, and insurance operations.
- Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by helping develop test scenarios, validating outcomes, documenting defects, and tracking issues through resolution alongside QA, Development, and business stakeholders.
- Aid in change management activities by documenting requirement updates, performing impact analysis, and communicating changes in partnership with Senior and Lead Business Analysts.
- Participate in client meetings, requirements workshops, and project planning sessions while accurately capturing decisions, assumptions, risks, action items, and open questions.
- Provide effort estimates for assigned analysis work, proactively communicate blockers, identify requirement gaps, raise scope concerns, and highlight project timeline risks.
Skills and Qualifications
- Technical Skills:
- Working knowledge of Agile and Scrum methodologies, with familiarity in Waterfall and hybrid delivery approaches.
- Foundational understanding of Property & Casualty insurance operations, including policy administration, billing, and/or claims.
- Experience using business analysis and backlog management tools such as Microsoft 365, Azure DevOps (ADO), JIRA, or similar platforms.
- Understanding of API integrations, process automation, and cloud-based technology solutions.
- Familiarity with machine learning, artificial intelligence (AI), or predictive analytics is a plus.
- Interpersonal Skills:
- Strong written communication with the ability to create clear, organized documentation.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills, effectively translating business requirements for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Collaborative approach to problem-solving with a willingness to contribute ideas and support team success.
- Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and initiative to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Adaptable and positive when navigating changing priorities and evolving project needs.
- Maintains confidentiality and consistently demonstrates professionalism and high ethical standards.
- Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Insurance, Information Systems, Finance, or a related field.
- 2–4 years of business analysis experience, with Property & Casualty insurance experience preferred.
- Entry-level certifications such as Certified Scrum Master (CSM), SAFe Agilist, ECBA, CCBA, or similar certifications are a plus.
- Exposure to Duck Creek, Guidewire, or BriteCore platforms is preferred.
Additional Requirements
- This position is full-time and primarily works Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM local time. Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours as needed is required.
- This position may be remote or based in one of our offices located in Springfield, Missouri; Puerto Rico; or Honduras.
- Ability to travel as needed.
